The Employer Solution : A message from Dr. Gene Gilchrist, C.E.O.

27 million people in the United States currently suffer from addiction to drugs or alcohol, with only 3 million spaces  in current treatment facilities.

Of these millions suffering from addiction, only 12 percent ever encounter any form of treatment, and only 6% ever recover. This leaves people suffering from Substance Use Disorder day to day with little help. Yet, we know that treatment works.

Only one in five companies has an existing Drug Policy to address substance use in the workplace.

According to the National Safety Council, the average cost to an Employer for each Employee that suffers from Substance Use Disorder is approximately $10,000. Costs to the business are based on turnover, absenteeism, tardiness, liability, and diminished customer service.

The data are compelling. The problem is pervasive.

We can demonstrate that 44/100 employees are at risk of failing a random drug test every day in the workplace. Based on their behavior “off duty,” and likely some on duty, 44% of your employees are performing service for you, with your customers, on your site, running your machines, representing the company, driving your vehicles, and they are impaired to some degree.

Lacking options, you have done your best with pre-employment screening, internal admonition, and for too many, just making do, especially in a low unemployment environment.

Now, at Stay Clean, we have developed a comprehensive, turn-key solution providing you with the process and tools to treat these issues in a highly cost-effective manner. We will include demonstrable ROI and measurement tools to prove the point.

We bring policy-based solutions that do not assume that everyone who violates drug use rules is an addict, but where that is true, we will deploy tested methods of treatment by the highest credentialed clinicians and community services working hand in glove with treatment, and we will do that all via telemedicine online.

We will work directly with your HR Department to make the policy and process choices appropriate to your company culture – they will remain in control from start to finish. We will provide management and supervisory training, including the means to identify where substance abuse is occurring and, when required, provide direct access to therapeutic resources where they are needed most. We will have all of this up and running as quickly as you determine appropriate.

Engagement

We will spend the time with you to demonstrate the current risk and our assumed ROI, understand your culture, gain greater insight into the benefits of deploying an Employer Program within your business. We will work to understand how we might comport with your current health benefits program. Whether your company employs hundreds or thousands, we have the resources to help you design and implement a program designed to meet your specific needs.

Policy Review: Consultation/Education

The first step is a review of your existing workplace drug policy. Only one in five companies already has a policy in place. Stay Clean has SHRM-certified HR professionals on staff to consult with you on a policy that best fits your goals. We have existing policies you can review to provide clarity and reduce your implementation costs.

Stay Clean staff will provide workforce awareness training, reinforcement testing, and support to coordinate with your internal HR structure.

Testing: Immediate Results

Stay Clean deploys the LIFE DX VERIFY fluid capture device for use in the workplace, which processes a saliva sample collected discreetly within your HR office. The specimen is gathered using provided swabs, then deposited into two separate reservoirs within the unit. One sample interacts immediately with a set of test strips to determine the presence of twelve individual drugs and alcohol. The second sample remains untouched in case lab-based confirmation is required.

A Second Chance: Informational Evaluation

Stay Clean provides access to licensed drug and alcohol treatment professionals as part of the Employer Program. An initial assessment based on the ASAM criteria survey is administered to any employee who tests positive for an illicit substance. This assessment is conducted during two 1-hour sessions and delivers results indicating the severity of illness the employee is suffering. This information is then shared with the employee, who has the option to continue treatment. The employer is notified when the employee has completed the evaluation while employee privacy is maintained throughout the process.
